Emergence International Meeting 1997
October 23, 1997
We had only one member in attendance last Thursday who had been to the Emergence International Conference, in St. Louis, Missouri, in October, though two members from the group did manage to go. The report was that, as always, the meeting was wonderful and very uplifting. Of note here, in relation to the ongoing difficulty between gay Scientists and TMC, was that a number of folks from the nearby Principia College campus came by. Apparently, the "gay issue"continues to be hot on campus. Those people who came from Prin., including teachers and students, were supportive and interested to hear what we had to say.
This is not surprising, really. When any issue gets hot, the extremes become more apparent. In our situation, TMC is coming at us with their stifling response* to our objections to the article in the Journal "From rock bottom to moral freedom"(hope I have that right). Meanwhile, other members of the Christian Science community are coming around to offer their support. The ol' Yin and Yang. Good to remember, though, that opposites are the fodder of mortal mind. Just as there is only one Mind, there is only one thing going on - and it's all Good, all the time. This seemed like such a good topic, and one that cries out so loud for healing, that we decided to focus some healing energy on it for next week.
Much more than this went on in St. Louis, but this is what we ended up discussing last Thursday.
Also in the meeting we shared some of the lovely e-mail sent to us in response to our web site. So glad to hear you like it and are getting something from it.
Peace and joy and power to you all!
*The acronym TMC stands for The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
