Creation & Creativity

Man reflects infinity, and this reflection is the true idea of God. God expresses in man the infinite idea forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from a boundless basis. Mind manifests all that exists in the infinitude of Truth. We know no more of man as the true divine image and likeness, than we know of God.
The infinite Principle is reflected by the infinite idea and spiritual individuality, but the material so-called senses have no cognizance of either Principle or its idea. The human capacities are enlarged and perfected in proportion as humanity gains the true conception of man and God.
The origin and destiny of the universe is a complete mystery. Creation myths like Genesis I and II have helped mortals cope and over time divine Love has graciously provided other means such as destruction/recreation myths (Revelation, Second coming of Christ), Darwinism, atomic and astronomical science. (Think how quaint all the certainties of today's sciences will appear in a hundred years).
Each person faces his or her own uncertainties and will perhaps grab at genetics, family psychology, even astrology, numerology and religion to help him/her along. It seems to us that whatever the means availed, mortals do seem to need them in order to give a feeling of groundedness and continuity to human life. And as the Reality of Being in Christian Science dawns upon consciousness it will sweep through this atmosphere transfiguring, uplifting and redeeming. God's universe and man will be recognized as not created but coexistent with God — already eternal, infinite, unique and perfect. All the systems presently available can be seen as dualistic descriptions of the unitary Reality without beginning or end or any necessity for creation. "We live in an age of Love's divine adventure to be All-in-all" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany, pg. 158:9-10).
As for "creativity", it's not a word the Bible or Mrs. Eddy used; however the concept is certainly there big-time. While we didn't have time to go into it much, it was clear that the main thrust is that mortals trying to influence help or entertain other mortals may be the "look", but the Fact is always the intercommunication of God with man and His universe.
Some healing ideas are:
- The Bible
- "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me..." (Psalms 138:8)
- "My Father worketh hitherto, and I work..." (John 5:17)
- "I can of mine own self do nothing..." (John 5:30)
- Science and Health
- "Mortals are egotists. They believe themselves to be independent workers, personal authors, even privileged originators... Immortal man alone represents the truth of creation." (pg. 263:1-6)
- "As mortals gain correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were invisible, will become visible." (pg. 264:13-15)
Healings:
One member realized during the week that he was not being "supportive" of artistic friends by attending their art showings or plays if he was not genuinely interested in the product. In fact, it's malpractice, and a faulty use of space better occupied by connoisseurs.
Another member attended a Christian Science lecture where the speaker talked of a failed academic project which he was able to rectify by letting go his personal sense of hubris, obligation and glory. As he saw that all ideas are God's ideas, the project went on to success. Our member felt a great release of worry about a problem he was dealing with, and turned the whole thing over to the operation of divine Principle. Things are starting to move!
Another member saw a very elegant church member on the street and complained to her of the maltreatment he had received at a local branch church. She shocked him by saying, "Haven't you figured out yet that mortal mind is a mother-f..... ?" This will be his mantra for breaking earth's dismal grip.
The horrendous racial crime in Jasper, Texas, as well as the virtually psychotic remarks of a religious figure about Orlando's likelihood of being destroyed by God because gay flags will fly at Disney facilities, were remarked upon, and signs of healing were discerned.
Some members endorsed the painful states of confusion and uncertainty until a path is visible out of a problem. Too rapid jumping at "truths" can "seal-in" and compound a problem.
The sheer beauty and creativity embodied in the male Swan Lake from London was also noted this week.
The conceptions of mortal, erring thought must give way to the ideal of all that is perfect and eternal. Through many generations human beliefs will be attaining diviner conceptions, and the immortal and perfect model of God's creation will finally be seen as the only true conception of being.
Science reveals the possibility of achieving all good, and sets mortals at work to discover what God has already done; but distrust of one's ability to gain the goodness desired and to bring out better and higher results, often hampers the trial of one's wings and ensures failure at the outset.
Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
^Why did God command, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth," if all minds (men) have existed from the beginning, and have had successive stages of existence to the present time?^
Your question implies that Spirit, which first spiritually created the universe, including man, created man over again materially; and, by the aid of mankind, all was later made which He had made. If the first record is true, what evidence have you—apart from the evidence of that which you admit cannot discern spiritual things—of any other creation? The creative "Us" made all, and Mind was the creator. Man originated not from dust, materially, but from Spirit, spiritually. This work had been done; the true creation was finished, and its spiritual Science is alluded to in the first chapter of Genesis.
Jesus said of error, "That thou doest, do quickly." By the law of opposites, after the truth of man had been demonstrated, the postulate of error must appear. That this addendum was untrue, is seen when Truth, God, denounced it, and said: "I will greatly multiply thy sorrow." "In the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." The opposite error said, "I am true," and declared, "God doth know . . . that your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods," creators. This was false; and the Lord God never said it. This history of a falsity must be told in the name of Truth, or it would have no seeming. The Science of creation is the universe with man created spiritually. The false sense and error of creation is the sense of man and the universe created materially.
Why does the record make man a creation of the sixth ^and last day, if he was coexistent with God?^
In its genesis, the Science of creation is stated in mathematical order, beginning with the lowest form and ascending the scale of being up to man. But all that really is, always was and forever is; for it existed in and of the Mind that is God, wherein man is foremost.
God is All-in-all. Hence He is in Himself only, in His own nature and character, and is perfect being, or consciousness.
